Our Chimney Sweep Process
Our certified chimney sweeps have a mess-free cleaning process. Here’s what you can expect:
- Special brushes are utilized to clean the flue.
- A three-motor, tri-stage HEPA vacuum is employed to eliminate debris, ash, and deposits during the cleaning.
- Hand cleaning with wire brushes is done on the fireplace walls.
- Flexible poles with attached brushes are used to clean the entire flue efficiently and safely.
- Dust control measures are implemented throughout the cleaning process.
Why Are Chimney Sweepings Important?
When you use your fireplace, heat, debris, and hot gases travel up the flue, causing condensation to form on the cooler surfaces near the top. This condensation results in a combustible residue known as creosote, which is highly flammable. The accumulation of creosote and other debris can create blockages, reduce your chimney’s efficiency, and elevate the risk of a chimney fire.
When & How Often Should a Chimney Be Swept?
Plan on having your chimney swept and inspected once every year, per the recommendation of the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA). Your boiler and furnace flue should also be swept – and we can help with this too.
We usually recommend booking this maintenance in the spring or early summer months, as our schedule books won’t be as jam-packed, and you’ll have ample time to address repairs or other issues before the fall burn season kicks off.
